Auction companies may determine how Proxibid manages pre-bid removals. This article will review how Proxibid manages contact related to bidder pre-bid removals and how to update the setting that guides Proxibid for pre-bid removals.
This article contains the following sections:
Pre-Bid Removal Preferences
Proxibid will manage the removal of pre-bids, after authorized to do so by an auction house, or when guided to action from the auction company's Pre-Bid Removal Preference.
An auction house's Pre-bid Removal Preference determines how each bidder pre-bid removal request will be managed. This internal setting determines if phone or email contact is needed to a selected auction company representative; or if action can be taken without contact.
The Pre-Bid Removal options available for pre-bid removal requests from bidders are:
- Must Call: The default setting for all companies. When a bidder requests to have a pre-bid retracted/removed, a Proxibid agent will call the auction house on a bidder’s behalf to obtain approval. The auction house can then approve or deny the bid retraction. If Proxibid is not able to reach the auction company via phone, a retraction request will be sent via email. To use email as the first point of contact, rather than phone, contact Seller Support.
- Yes: Allows all pre-bid removals. When a bidder requests to have a bid retracted, Proxibid will remove the bid without seeking auction company approval.
- No: All pre-bid removal requests are declined. When a bidder requests to have a bid retracted, Proxibid will not remove the bid, regardless of the circumstances. The bidder can contact the auction house directly with any concerns relating to the retraction decline.
- Custom: The auction house can set specific guidelines for approving or declining pre-bid removal requests without contacting the auction company. If a bid retraction request does not meet these guidelines, the pre-bid will not be removed, unless the auction house grants approval.
Please note, when a bidder account is universally suspended from Proxibid for non-payment or risk-related issues, all active bids are removed regardless of the auction house's Pre-Bid Removal Preference. The account is black flagged on their registration record. The flag is only lifted once a resolution is reached.
Updating Pre-Bid Removal Preferences
The Pre-Bid Removal Preference is set by each auction company's Account Manager.
