This article describes how cataloging is handled when cross-listing an auction from Proxibid to LiveAuctioneers using atgXL.
This article contains the following sections:
- Uploading & Editing a Catalog
- LiveShipping Dimensions
- Starting Prices, Reserves & Estimates
- Cataloging Feature Availability
Uploading & Editing a Catalog
Lots and images can be cataloged in AuctionBuilder via the Catalog Generator or uploaded via the Bulk Loader.
Unless you're using Wavebid, lots and images should only be added in AuctionBuilder- not in LiveAuctioneers. Edits and additions will automatically push over to LiveAuctioneers once they are saved.
Images can take time to export and sync to LiveAuctioneers, up to several hours depending on the size of the catalog.
Catalog Requirements
- The minimum required number of lots per sale for LiveAuctioneers is 50.
Lot Requirements
See the Catalog Feature Availability table below to determine if additional cataloging features are available when cross-listing.
Lot Description |
|
Lot Numbers |
|
Lot Title | All lots must have a Lot Title in order to cross-list the auction to LiveAuctioneers |
Lot Edits
Edits to the auction or lot information should only be undertaken in AuctionBuilder- not directly in LiveAuctioneers. See the Cataloging Feature Availability table below for more information about which cataloging fields will sync to LiveAuctioneers.
The AuctionBuilder Bulk Loader cannot be used to upload a catalog once the Event Status has been changed to 'Online'. If you need to have a catalog uploaded after the event has gone Online, please contact Seller Support.
Lot Deletions
Lots that do not have any pre-bids on them can be deleted from AuctionBuilder up until lots start closing. If a lot with pre-bids needs to be deleted, the pre-bids will need to be deleted first. To get assistance with deleting a lot or deleting pre-bids, please contact Seller Support.
Lots deleted in AuctionBuilder should be automatically deleted from LiveAuctioneers. See the section below for information on how edits should be approached for events being cross-listed from Proxibid to LiveAuctioneers.
Cataloging in Wavebid
When using Wavebid for cataloging a cross-listed auction, the auction should be created in AuctionBuilder and then linked to Wavebid. From there you can then upload the catalog and images. More information on this process can be found here.
LiveShipping Dimensions
Users who plan on using LiveShipping to ship lots sold through LiveAuctioneers will need to list the dimensions of the item in the Lot Description in AuctionBuilder. The dimensions must appear at either the beginning or the end of the Lot Description and must contain the following details:
- Height
- Width
- Depth
- Weight (optional)
Dimensional units must be provided when listing any of the above and can be abbreviated (ex. 5in., 6ft., 7 lbs.) or represented by standard symbols (ex. 5", 6').
Additional guidelines for shipping via LiveShipping can be found here.
Starting Prices, Reserves & Estimates
Ask Prices (Starting Bids) and Reserves can be entered into AuctionBuilder via the Catalog Generator or uploaded via the Bulk Loader.
Ask Prices and Reserves that are off-increment will be rounded up to the next valid increment. This is to ensure bid alignment between Proxibid and LiveAuctioneers for the auction.
Look out for notifications when an alteration is made:
Starting Bids (Ask Price)
- An Ask Price (Starting Bid) equal to your first valid increment will be automatically created if one is not specified.
- The Ask Price (Starting Bid) can be edited on any lot until bidding begins on that lot, as long as the lot does not have any pre-bids. If the lot has pre-bids, those pre-bids will need to be deleted by Seller Support before the Starting Bid can be changed. Steps on editing the Starting Bid can be found here.
- If changes are made to a catalog via import, the Ask Price (Starting Bid) must be included every time a new catalog is imported through the Bulk Loader.
Reserves
Reserves will sync to LiveAuctioneers on cross-listed auctions. If Reserves need to be edited, they should be lowered to the next highest bid. Lowering reserves to $0 instead of the next highest bid may disrupt the lot's bid drive, resulting in loss of bids.
Estimates
High and Low Estimates should be entered into the lot's metadata in AuctionBuilder when possible. If estimate values are not given to items in AuctionBuilder, the Estimate field on LiveAuctioneers will show "Estimate: $0-$0".
Cataloging Feature Availability
The table below describes the cataloging features that are not available or don't fully sync when cross-listing an auction from Proxibid to LiveAuctioneers.
An additional table describing feature availability specific to the auction details can be found here.
Feature | Availability | Notes |
Times the money/Piecemeal | Not Available | LiveAuctioneers does not support this feature. This lot setting should not be selected in AuctionBuilder. |
Lot-Level Buyer's Premiums | Not Available | LiveAuctioneers does not support lot-level Buyer's Premiums. |
Make an Offer | Not Available | This feature should not be selected or utilized in AuctionBuilder. |
Hyperlinks | Available | Hyperlinks (including hyperlinks to videos and PDFs) that are included in the Lot Description will export from Proxibid to LiveAuctioneers. Hyperlinks must follow the LiveAuctioneers Link Policy, which can be found in section 20 of the LiveAuctioneers Seller Terms here. |
Videos | Not Available | Videos added to lots in AuctionBuilder will not sync to LiveAuctioneers. |
Lot-Level Seller Information | Not Available | Information entered into the Seller Information fields in the Catalog Generator in AuctionBuilder will not sync to LiveAuctioneers. |
Metadata: Lot-Level Locations |
Not Available | Lot locations entered in AuctionBuilder will not sync to LiveAuctioneers. Only an auction-level address is shown. |
Metadata: Condition, Year, Model | Available | Condition, Year, Model, etc. listed in the lot metadata in AuctionBuilder is added into the lot description on LiveAuctioneers. |
Metadata: Estimates |
Available |
Estimates listed in the lot metadata in AuctionBuilder will sync to the High and Low Estimate fields in LiveAuctioneers. They will also be added to the lot description on LiveAuctioneers. |
Renumbering Lots |
Available (only when using Bulk Loader or Wavebid) |
Lots can be renumbered in AuctionBuilder via the Bulk Loader or Wavebid only. Renumbering should not be done more than twice via the Bulk Loader. The new lot numbers will sync to LiveAuctioneers. Any time lots are renumbered in Wavebid, the entire catalog with all images needs to be exported to Proxibid. Exporting only the impacted lots, or exporting with the New Photos Only box checked can create issues with the way lots appear in the catalog. For more information, see Bulk Lot Number Change. |
Reordering Lots | Not Available |
Lots can be reordered in AuctionBuilder via the Bulk Loader, but the new order will not sync to LiveAuctioneers. LiveAuctioneers will always display lots in Lot Number order. |
Lot-Level Categorization | Partially Available |
Lot-level categorization will not sync from AuctionBuilder to LiveAuctioneers. Lot-level categorization will be handled by the auto-categorization tool directly in LiveAuctioneers. Categories on LiveAuctioneers can take upwards of 24 hours to be determined and assigned. Users can also manually edit lot-level categories in LiveAuctioneers directly from the Lot Manager page. |
Lot-Level Increment Tables | Not Available | Increment tables must be set at the auction or account level, and cannot be set at the lot level for timed cross-listed events. Please contact Seller Support to request changes to auction or account level increment tables. |
Catalog Uploads: Bulk Loader | Partially Available |
The AuctionBuilder Bulk Loader cannot be used to upload a catalog once the Event Status has been changed to 'Online'. If you need to have a catalog uploaded after the event has gone Online, please contact Seller Support. |
