Key Considerations
Prior to creating a cross-listed auction, you will need to onboard to atgXL and have access enabled on your account. Contact your Client Success Manager about signing up for atgXL, if you have not done so already.
Additionally, US clients are required to onboard to and use LivePayments on LiveAuctioneers. Your Client Success Manager and the LiveAuctioneers Payments team will work with you to ensure you are set up with LivePay ahead of running your cross-listed timed auction.
There are some key items to consider prior to creating and cross-listing your Proxibid auction:
Item |
Consideration |
Approval Criteria for Buyers |
The Approval Criteria for Buyers selected in AuctionBuilder does not sync to LiveAuctioneers. |
Sequential Paddle Number |
The seed for sequential paddle numbers should be significantly different between AuctionBuilder and LiveAuctioneers to ensure no crossover. The LiveAuctioneers paddle seed will automatically be set to start at 900.
|
Increment Tables |
The auction-level increment table that is created in AuctionBuilder will export and sync to LiveAuctioneers. All increments must be whole dollar values. The increment table cannot be changed after the event has been published in LiveAuctioneers. Lot-level increment tables cannot be used on cross-listed events. Sellers can utilize Starting Bids to ensure high-value items are starting at higher increments. |
Feature Image |
The Feature image or auction “cover images” will not sync from AuctionBuilder to LiveAuctioneers. On LiveAuctioneers, when proofing and publishing your auction you can select 1-3 cover images from the auction catalog that best represent your event to be displayed on LiveAuctioneers. |
Auction Edits |
Once an auction's Start Time has passed, event details cannot be edited. If edits/adjustments must be made after the auction start time, please contact Seller Support. |
Catalog Edits |
Unless you are using Wavebid, catalog edits should be made primarily in AuctionBuilder. These changes, for the most part, will automatically synchronize with LiveAuctioneers within approximately 30 minutes. |
Catalog Images |
Only the first 20 images from each lot will sync to LiveAuctioneers as LiveAuctioneers only allows up to 20 images per lot. Images can take time to export and sync to LiveAuctioneers- up to several hours depending on the size of the catalog. Please consider this when setting the event's Start Time. |
Reserves |
Reserves will sync to LiveAuctioneers on cross-listed auctions. If Reserves need to be edited, they should be lowered to the next highest bid. Lowering reserves to $0 instead of the next highest bid may disrupt the lot's bid drive, resulting in loss of bids. |
Times the money/Piecemeal |
This lot setting should not be enabled/selected in AuctionBuilder because it will not be supported on LiveAuctioneers. |
Auction Start Time |
The auction Start Time needs to be at least 2 hours in the future when publishing your auction in AuctionBuilder. This will give users time to go into LiveAuctioneers and confirm all auction details before bidding begins. |
There are some features that are not available or do not sync when cross-listing an auction. See the Auction Feature Availability table and the Cataloging Feature Availability table for more details.
Auction Feature Availability
The table below describes the features that are not available or don't fully sync when cross-listing an auction from Proxibid to LiveAuctioneers.
An additional table describing feature availability specific to lots and cataloging can be found here.
Feature | Availability | Notes |
Live Auctions | Not Available | Cross-listing from Proxibid to LiveAuctioneers currently only supports Timed auctions. |
Make an Offer | Not Available |
This feature should not be selected or utilized in AuctionBuilder. |
Categorization | Partially Available |
A primary category that best matches the auction should be selected in AuctionBuilder. Primary and secondary categories specified in AuctionBuilder will not map directly to LiveAuctioneers. The most appropriate categories for the LiveAuctioneers audience will be given to items on LiveAuctioneers. Lot-level categorization in LiveAuctioneers will be handled by the LiveAuctioneers auto-categorization tool. Categories on LiveAuctioneers can take upwards of 24 hours to be determined and assigned. |
Multi-Ring/Linked auctions | Not Available |
Auctions can be linked in AuctionBuilder but that linking will not sync to LiveAuctioneers. LiveAuctioneers does not support linked events. |
Auction Status | Not Available |
Auction statuses set in AuctionBuilder will not sync to LiveAuctioneers. The auction must be proofed and published in LiveAuctioneers separately. |
Staggered End Times | Partially Available |
Staggered end times will sync from AuctionBuilder to LiveAuctioneers, however the increments cannot be less than one minute. |
Extended Bidding | Available |
Extended bidding is available for cross-listed events, and it will continue until bidding on a particular item ends. The default is two minutes. If you wish to change your Extended Bidding time from the default, it must be done before the cross-listed event is created in AuctionBuilder. To change your Extended Bidding time, contact Seller Support. |
Requiring SSN | Not Available | This option can be used in AuctionBuilder, but there is no option in LiveAuctioneers to request an SSN from a bidder as part of registration. |
Auto-Approval Rules | Partially Available |
Auto-approval rules (bidder automation) set in AuctionBuilder, including MarketGuard tiers, do not sync to LiveAuctioneers. Auto-approval rules are set on your LiveAuctioneers account. More information about auto-approval in LiveAuctioneers can be found here. |
Payments: atgPay | Partially Available |
atgPay is not available on LiveAuctioneers, nor can it be used to charge LiveAuctioneers bidders. atgPay can only be used to charge Proxibid bidders. LivePayments can be used for LiveAuctioneers bidders. Although atgPay and LivePay are similar products, they should be treated as separate products, with separate enrollment/onboarding and features. |
Buyer's Premium | Not Available | See the Set Taxes & Premiums article for more information about Buyer's Premiums. |
Sales Tax | Not Available |
Tax rates selected in AuctionBuilder will not sync to LiveAuctioneers. Sales tax will be set/collected in LiveAuctioneers via LivePay. See the Set Taxes & Premiums article for more information. |
Deposits | Not Available |
Deposits are not supported on LiveAuctioneers for cross-listed timed auctions. |
Cancelling an Auction | Not Available |
Cancelling an auction in AuctionBuilder will not cancel the auction in LiveAuctioneers. The auction will need to be cancelled in LiveAuctioneers separately. If you need to cancel an auction, please contact your Client Success Manager or Seller Support. |
