About Lot Locations
If a lot is located somewhere other than the primary auction address, a specific location can be listed on the lot so that bidders can see clearly where the lot is located.
This lot location information must be entered into the lot's metadata (metadata describes the unique information about a lot itself).
Lot locations entered into the lot's metadata will appear in a gray box above the Lot Description on Proxibid.com.
Locations can be added to individual lots (or a few lots at a time) manually, or they can be added in bulk via import.
Manually Adding Locations to Lots
Locations can be added to the lot's metadata manually via the Catalog Generator in AuctionBuilder.
- Navigate to the applicable auction from the AuctionBuilder Dashboard and click on the Catalog link.
- Select a lot from the Lot Selector panel on the right side of the page.
- Or create a new lot by entering a Lot Number and Lot Title and then clicking the Create Lot button.
- Click the Edit Item Details button. The Enhanced Search Editor window will open.
- In the Enhanced Search Editor window, click the Multi Lot Selection button in the top right corner of the page to add locations to multiple lots at once.
- Click the Single Edit Mode button to add locations to individual lots.
- If locations are being made to multiple lots, check the box to left of all the lots to be edited, or check the box in the column header to select all lots.
- Lots can be filtered by Lot Number, Keyword (Text), or Category.
- Click the Show Only Lots Without Detail box to see lots that do not currently contain any Lot Details (metadata).
- Click the Edit Selected Items button.
- Use the drop-down to select a Category.
- Once a Category is selected, a Sub-Category drop-down will appear. Select a Sub-Category if needed.
- For information on categorizing vehicles for events using atgPay, see atgPay: Vehicle Sales Tax.
- Once a Category is selected, a series of Lot Details (metadata) fields will appear that pertain to that category. Complete the various Item Location fields as needed.
- It is not necessary to complete all of the Item Location fields, just those that should be visible to bidders. Many auction houses will just select a City and State.

Importing Lot Locations
Locations can be added to lots in bulk using a Comma-Separated Value (.CSV) file imported into AuctionBuilder via the Bulk Loader. To do so, a spreadsheet will need to be created, or the existing catalog can be exported from AuctionBuilder and added to.
Full details on importing a catalog into AuctionBuilder can be found here.
When importing metadata, the .CSV must contain a 'Category' column containing the Category Code for the lot. Information on locating Category Codes can be found here.
Additionally, when entering metadata on a .CSV, the column headers (titles) must match those listed below in order for the bulk loader to accept the column and its values.
- Street Address: ItemLocation
- City: ItemCity
- State: ItemState
- Zip Code: ItemPostalZipCode
- Country: ItemCountry
For example, the header for the column containing the city must be 'ItemCity' and the header for the column containing the state must be 'ItemState'.
Additionally, some fields can contain any combination of letters and numbers, while others must contain values already listed in AuctionBuilder's metadata.
For example, any value can be entered into the Item Location- Address column, but the Item Location- Country and Item Location- State columns must contain one of the countries/states already listed in AuctionBuilder. This also means that, when importing location data for lots located in the United States, the country must appear as 'United States' on the .CSV and names of states must be written in full, rather than abbreviated.
Once the .CSV is uploaded, the columns should be mapped automatically if the columns are titled appropriately and the .CSV contains a 'Category' column.
For additional information on importing metadata, see Lot Categorization & Metadata.
